Shadows of Regret

Shadows are but form and the lack of light,
Strong and hard they follow without a fight.
We drag them along, or with them we come,

Without any questions they stick like gum.
Memories like shadows have only form,
Regret found in shadows of a past storm.
Learning comes from regretting those shadows,
Joyful mountains to sorrow filled meadows.
Emotions are stored with a tight lid,
Memories I would sell for any bid.
Driving the road of life in the wrong lane,
I wish to forget those fragments of pain.
Shadows they follow and dark forms they cast,
Memories and scenery of the past.
